Preparations for estec2007 are Under Way - Call for Abstracts for the European Solar Thermal Energy Conference Opens

Berlin, 08 November 2006. From June 19 - 20, 2007, the European Solar Thermal Energy Conference, estec2007, will take place in Freiburg, Germany. As of the beginning of November, interested experts are invited to submit abstract proposals under www.estec2007.org for one of the nine topic categories. The deadline is January 8, 2007. An independent program committee of international solar thermal experts is responsible for creating the program for the conference based on these abstracts.

As the most important solar thermal conference worldwide, estec2007 will address the following target groups: decision makers in manufacturing, trade and consulting, financial experts, researchers, planers, architects, investors, energy agencies and politicians. In the upcoming year, over 400 participants from all over Europe and from many other countries are expected. “Anybody serious about solar thermal business should reserve these dates on their agenda right now”, says Ole Pilgaard, president of the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation, ESTIF.

Solar thermal demand is rising considerably. In 2005, more than 2 million square metres of solar collectors were newly installed in Europe. This equals the thermal power of 1,45 GWth and an increase of 22,8 % compared to the previous year. For 2006, an even higher growth is expected.

“The interest in solar thermal is currently increasing because the European Solar Thermal Technology Platform, ESTTP, also shows that the huge potential of solar thermal has so far been underestimated”, according to Gerhard Stryi-Hipp, executive director of the German Solar Industry Association, and president of ESTTP. The technology platform is currently working on a vision for solar thermal for 2030.

estec2007 will take place in Freiburg for the third time. As in previous years, estec2007 is a conference of ESTIF, organized by the in cooperation with intersolar2007. The experienced team will guarantee a professional realisation of this event.

Anyone interested in the estec2007 can subscribe online to the free newsletter under www.estec2007.org. Companies who are interested in presenting themselves to an international audience of experts as a sponsor can get detailed information via the website as well.
